Strong Points

Productive in a college spread offense. Good overall athlete with good height. Has a good arm and can make all the required throws but he doesn't drive the ball like some. Has a fairly good feel for pass rushers. Good mechanics, holds the ball high and has a quick release. Accurate on most throws. Three-year starter. Has a lot of upside.

Weak Points

Has a narrow frame and needs to add some bulk and strength. While his completion percentage is high, his ball placement isn't consistently good. Threw way too many interceptions this year (13). There are a lot of half-field reads in the Cal offense. Did not play well against the better teams on their schedule (USC, Utah, Oregon, UCLA). Many of his big-number games were against poor competition.

The Way We See It

Over half of the first-round quarterbacks drafted in the past 10 years have failed to live up to expectations. I feel Goff would have been better served staying in school. Yes, he will be drafted in the first round, but is he really ready? He is talented and has upside but not many who have come from that style offense have had success. Will be better off if he can sit and learn. If he has to start right away, it could hurt his confidence and development.
