Strong Points

Size. Instinctive and quick reacting. Physical player. Strong at the point and quick to shed. Makes a lot of plays vs. the run. Good tackler who hits and wraps. Strong hand use. Shows awareness in coverage.

Weak Points

Speed and lack of range. Not that effective when used to blitz. Struggled when he had to cover man-to-man. Durability problems, including missing all of 2015 with an injury.

The Way We See It

McCray's tape is good because he is instinctive, strong and aggressive. He made a lot of plays -- especially in the run game. McCray lacks a key trait, though, and that is speed. Makes up for his lack of speed at times with his instincts. However, he will be a liability in coverage. Unlikely to ever be a starter, but McCray can be a good backup and special teams player. Coaches will appreciate that he doesn't break assignments, but he will never be able to overcome his limitations. Medical at the combine will be important.
