Grading Explanation

9.9-8.0: A franchise player in the NFL with no holes. Has to be able to carry a team at a premium position (QB, RB, Pass Rusher). Has to be consistent dominant player at the college level and will continue that play in the NFL. Will make a team better and take them to the next level. Has few flaws and multiple rare traits. You don't see these players in every draft.

7.9-7.0: Same as above but at a non-premium position. QB, RBs, WRs and dominant pass rushers can be in this level but they are not quite as good as an 8.0 or better player. Would be a player you would consider as a top 5 to top 10 player depending on the depth of the draft.

6.9-6.8: A player with not quite as talented as a 7.0. Should start early in his career, hopefully as a rookie. Has the potential to ascend to a Pro Bowl type player. Will be one of the better players on your team. Has multiple traits for the position. Can be dominant at times. At top 20-25 pick.

6.7-6.6: A very good college player who should develop into a solid and consistent NFL player after a period of adjustment. Will eventually start and help a championship team win on a consistent basis. A late first or top half of second round player. You win BECAUSE of this type of player.

6.5: Same as above but to a lesser degree. Will need a little more time to develop but should become a solid starter. Will be a quality backup his first and second year depending on a team's needs and strengths but could start earlier if a top team is weak at the position. A second to third round pick. You win WITH this type of player.

6.4: A solid college player with traits to succeed at the next level. Hey may ultimately become a 6.5 or better player and become a starter. You view this player as a solid backup type. Provides good depth for a championship team and should be able to play in a rotation. A backup with staying power.

6.3: Will become a good backup type in the NFL. May never be a starter but will help you if he has to play. Is a contributor. May eventually work himself into a starters position over time but mostly seen as a backup. Is someone you want to replace if he became a starter. He is a player you would draft late.

6.2: A college free agent. Under no circumstances would you want to draft this player but he has some traits to make an NFL roster. He is a solid college player but lacks too many things to be a draftable player.

6.1: Same as above but to a lesser degree. Would be an adequate free agent but not a priority free agent.

6.0: A non-predictor. In other words a player who has displayed a high level of talent but for various reasons is inconsistent with his talent. The reason for his play may be character, injury, instincts, scheme, size, coaching changes, etc. It could be a variety of circumstances, but for some reason it is very hard to predict what his future in the NFL is. Still, this is a draftable player and may even be a high choice.

5.9: Same as above but to a lesser degree of talent. This is a player who has demonstrated that he has ability but has not had a great deal of playing time. Still he shows that he has upside if put in the right situation and things come together. Again, circumstances enter into the equation.

5.8-5.5: Low level free agents. A player who has shown that he has some talent but are missing some thing or things to make it to the next level. This player has a very limited chance to make a roster and would be signed only to fill out a camp roster.

5.4-5.0: Basically a reject but has displayed some talent or has some redeeming qualities.

4.9: Reject

Levels:

A - 6.6 and higher: A player you would draft in the first two rounds
B - 6.4-6.6: A player you would draft in rounds two or three
C - 6.3-6.4: A player you would raft in rounds five through seven
D - 6.1-6.2 and 5.8-5.9: A free agent
S - 6.0-5.9: A special circumstance player (non-predictor). Has talent but is somewhat hit or miss.
R - 4.9: Reject

Circumstances or Alerts (1,2,3)

1 - Could be a number of things that have an effect on his draft grade such as age, type of scheme, transfer, character flaw, etc.
2 - Medical problem
3 - Intelligence problem
(+) - Is a fit for what we do offensively or defensively
(-) - Is not a fit for what we do
() - Is not a true fit but we can live with him

Examples

A 13 6.7+ - A good mid to late first round pick
B 12 6.5- - A solid second round pick but not a player we would not draft because he fits our scheme
