So you’re in the market for a starting quarterback, upgrades at running back, cornerback and defensive tackle or a No. 1 wide receiver?

The NFL’s 2018 class of unrestricted free agents could be a great place for you to shop. Anywhere else you need help, now might be a good time to start thinking about a trade or focusing all your energy on preparing for the draft.

Welcome to Pro Football Weekly's first look at the 2018 NFL free-agent market. The list below represent no more than 20-to-30 percent of the total free agents that will be available, but we’ve tried to identify any potential difference makers, rising stars and players who can be dependable starters and contributors right now.

If you’re in need of a wideout this year, that may be the deepest position available — with three potential number ones at the top of the list in Sammy Watkins, Allen Robinson and Jarvis Landry — and a long list of twos and threes to consider.

The receivers we’ve focused on are for the most part still in their mid-20s, and this group will get stronger when players on the wrong side of 30, like Jordy Nelson, and other salary-cap casualties that could include players like teammate Randall Cobb are also cut loose.

Don’t be surprised if this year's NFL free-agency market resembles what Major League Baseball is going through right now. It won’t be quite as bad, as a dozen-and-a-half or so of the players I just mentioned will get rich quick, but the rest of the group will probably have to wait a while before any exciting offers come along, and few are likely to break the bank.
